Agenda

Land Purchase

Considerable time was spent discussing the positive aspects of purchasing the land next door and also our apprehensions.

Positive Aspects:

  1. Land and facilities would be better accessible in the winter.
  2. With the current economic crisis there is a possibility we could purchase the land for a lot less.
  3. The "Castle" would be a source of building materials for other projects.
  4. The purchase could focus our community's energies.

Apprehensions:

  1. Where would the money come from to purchase the land? Fundraising and/or financial commitments from Stewards and membership would need to be in place in order for this purchase to happen.
  2. Making the purchase out of fear, (someone not faerie friendly buying the land) rather than purchasing the land for the positive attributes it would provide for our community.
  3. It would involve a lot of work. Do we have the critical mass of people needed to maintain the land and buildings.

Firewood

We also discussed the dwindling supply of firewood at Kawashaway. Do we need more firewood for next year?? Should we buy whole logs (that will need cutting and splitting) or should we buy and have delivered firewood that is already cut and split? Downed branches and trees in the forest should be gathered for bonfires and Lola and Trixie rather than using good firewood.

Future Circle Schedule

Circles occur so that the Stewards can discuss and make decisions for our community. Everyone in our community is encouraged to attend and to contribute their ideas and energy. Circles take place the 3rd Sunday of each month. Location varies. The November 16 Circle will be in the Cities at Scooter's house. The December 21 Circle (Winter Solstice) will be in Duluth at Hummingbird's house. The January 18 Circle will be in the Cities (Could someone volunteer to host?) and the February 15 Circle will be in the Cities. (This is our Annual Meeting and we will need a location.)

  3. Planning the Annual Meeting in February
  4. Planning next year's Gathering Call
  5. Other?
